I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you, the members of the University of Maine at Fort Kent community. While I have already met some of you, please allow me to share with you all my excitement at coming to the role of Interim Senior Human Resources Partner for the campus.

In the coming weeks, we will be working more and more closely together and I will be on campus to meet with you. However, even when I am not physically on campus, I am available to you at any time and look forward to establishing strong partnerships in support of your human resources needs and concerns. Additionally, I would like to highlight one particular area of mutual interest; one of the most important administrative functions that we undertake on behalf of the University of Maine at Fort Kent.

It is the recruiting of new faculty and staff. Ensuring that the process moves forward in the most consistent and transparent way while also projecting the requisite degree of professionalism to prospective candidates is our shared objective.

Given some of our recent staffing changes, marking a smooth transition toward gaining administrative support and resources for recruitment is crucial. I want to reaffirm that the first and most important step in seeking to recruit new professional partners is to coordinate with me for the opening of the search process. This is as it has always been with past HR leaders, but there are some new and very helpful colleagues I’d like to introduce as important parts of the hiring process.

While all searches will continue to be coordinated through the campus Interim Senior Human Resources Partner, please know that Nancy is very experienced in facilitating the parameters of your search, timelines, how to interface with HireTouch for posting of positions and any/all logistics appropriate to your process.

By getting in touch with Nancy at the outset after notifying your Interim Senior Human Resources Partner, you can be certain that your search is on the right track not only within the requirements and needs of your campus, but also very much in line to benefit from the available resources offered by the University of Maine System to assist in this important work. And, please don’t be surprised to hear from Nancy as she often reaches out to colleagues to follow up on requests and ensure that your search process remains on schedule and in sync!

Here at the University of Maine at Fort Kent, we are indeed fortunate to also have access to the outstanding skills of Melissa DeMerchant. While the newest member of our HR team, she has quickly gained the confidence of those at the University of Maine at Presque Isle and is a very competent source of back-up support for us here should you not be able to reach Nancy with your questions and concerns.

We are also fortunate that our service to the UMFK campus includes outstanding support from another colleague located at the University of Maine at Presque Isle as well. When I am not available to answer your questions or concerns and you need some additional information, Dori Pratt, Interim Senior Human Resources Partner at UMPI is also a very valuable resource.

 

Dori is very familiar with the operations of the northern campuses within the University of Maine System and can always be counted upon for responsive and comprehensive follow up and outreach to meet the needs of employees.

Please meet Stefan "Sparky" Petricevic

An announcement about support from Human Resources would not be complete without mentioning Stefan Petricevic.  UMFK HR has been lucky to have Stefan as a work study student since May 2015 and we look forward to his continued support of the office.

As a Behavioral Science major and Criminal Justice minor at UMFK, Stefan has been an Academic All American in 2015 & 2016 and an All American Men's Soccer player who was a member of the 2016 National Tournament team!
