A day in the life of an Allagash Wilderness Waterway Park Ranger is always exciting and different. I do many different jobs from maintaining campsites to teaching the history of this historic waterway to visitors. I am 68 miles in the woods above Greenville for 9 days at a time in my own cabin. It is a rewarding job and I feel lile im a part of something bigger then myself. The classes I took as a conservation law Enforcement and Environmental student helped prepare me for the carrer path I am now headed down. Working in the Allagash helped introduce me to, and be a part of other state agencies such as the Maine Warden Service and Maine Forest Rangers. UMFKs close proximity to the Allagash introduced me to this hidden treasure in the North Maine Woods, along with staff and field experiance gained durring our trips abroad; UMFK prepared me well for the carrer I have chosen!
