Commencement Program

The commencement program will include names of degree recipients from Summer 2021, Fall 2021 and degree candidates for Spring 2022 who have indicated they are participating in Commencement Exercises (via the graduation application). It is not an official list of graduates. Programs will be distributed at Commencement and your name will be listed as you indicated your name to appear on your diploma.


Diplomas

Diploma Covers will be handed out during the Commencement Ceremonies without Diplomas. It is University policy that diplomas cannot be released until your award has been conferred which occurs on May 7, 2022. Therefore, we are not able to provide your diploma earlier.

Diplomas will be available for pickup or mailed approximately three weeks after graduation.

**Note: Diplomas are only released to graduates who have no holds on their accounts with UMFK.


Honors Designations

Students who maintain a high level of academic achievement during the undergraduate careers at the University of Maine at Fort Kent are graduated with honors. Graduation with honors is solely based on the student’s GPA at the University of Maine at Fort Kent.

Honors will be calculated based on the student Cumulative Grade Point Average as follows:

  • summa cum laude - 3.80 to 4.00
  • magna cum laude - 3.50 to 3.79
  • cum laude - 3.20 to 3.49

For the purpose of determining honors for the Commencement Ceremony, coursework taken during the semester of graduation will not be used in the calculation of honors. For official transcripts and diplomas, the calculation of honors will take place after all official grades are posted.

Only degree candidates who are graduating with honors will wear Honor Cords with their academic regalia.

Any questions regarding a student's academic standing and qualifications for graduation honors should be directed to the Registrar's Office.

Graduates and guests with disabilities or those who may require special accommodations to attend Commencement Ceremony are requested to contact the Office of Facilities Management, (207) 834-7671 to ensure that special needs will be addressed.
