Day 3 began with a 5am wake-up call and host families preparing breakfast to go. The team was picked up at 6am for their three hour journey north. The route took the team through long winding mountain roads with barely enough room for two vehicles to squeeze by. The team arrived at the La Fortuna Waterfall at 9:30am and promptly walked down the hundreds of steps to reach the base. After soaking in the scenery, the team began the long arduous task of climbing the countless flights of steps that would return them to the top. After a quick pit-stop to recharge their batteries the team boarded the chartered bus to make their way to the Arenal Costa Rica Hot Springs Hotel. The team arrived at the hot springs at about noon and spent the next 4 hours soaking in the hot springs and exploring the area. At 4pm the team boarded the bus for the long return trip back to Santa Ana, at 8pm team members were back with their host families and enjoying a home cooked meal. It was a long day of needed R&R in preparation of the demands of clinical work which will begin bright and early Monday morning.
