The University of Maine at Fort Kent has received a donation of outdoor equipment from L.L. Bean, the famed clothing and outdoor recreation equipment company, to help replace a number of items that the University lost in last spring’s flood.
The Freeport, Maine-based company donated a total of three tents – two, #4 Ultradome tents valued at $179 each; and one, #6 Ultradome tent, which retails for $229. Also donated were six Adventure sleeping bags, at $79 each.
The total retail value of the donation is $1,061.
In addition to tents and sleeping bags replaced through the L.L. Bean donation, the University also lost sleeping pads, life vests, and canoe paddles in the late April flood that hit the St. John Valley. The equipment is used extensively by Forestry and Environmental Studies students during field study and research outings.
PHOTO OPPORTUNITY: Students, faculty and staff from the University will gather on the campus quad this Wednesday, July 16 at 12 noon for a photo with the donated equipment and to thank L.L. Bean for its donation.
