The Praxis Series is an Education Testing Service program that provides tests for the State of Maine to use as part of its teacher certification requirements. The University of Maine at Fort Kent requires all students to have attempted, or show proof of registration, of the Praxis I exam, prior to either enrolling in education courses (Professional Certification program) or beginning of the junior year (Bachelor of Science Teacher Ed. program) of the teacher-training program. All students should attempt and pass both Praxis I & II before beginning student teaching. To register for a Praxis exam click here.
Praxis I consists of basic skills assessment in reading, writing and mathematics, which are currently available in two formats; pencil & paper version and the computer version. Praxis II is only available in the paper & pencil version.
