Hi, my name is Heather Young and I am a third year nursing student. I am involved in a few organizations on campus. I am the Vice President and Secretary for the Sorority on campus and I also work with Ray Phinney doing student activities that revolve around diversity on campus. On top of that, I am involved with the TRiO Leadership Group, which holds activities that help students relieve their stress throughout the semester and helps students cope with stress, test anxiety, time management, etc.
I am originally from South Paris, ME and have lived in Maine my whole life. Upon graduation from UMFK, I place on moving downstate or out-of-state and working on an OB/GYN unit or in a Children's hospital. Eventually I would like to pursue my Master's degree in nursing.
During my free time, I like to hang out with friends and have some good old fashioned fun with them. I also like to read as much as I can, even though at times it seems too hectic for me to find time for myself to do the things that I love doing. All in all, I find time to manage my academic life as well as my personal life so I do not get over stressed throughout the school year.
Hi, my name is Lisa. I am in my second year here at UMFK pursuing a degree in Nursing. I transferred here from the Bay Area of Northern California (not to be confused with Los Angeles) where I was born and raised and will return there when I am done with school. I am planning to have a nursing career in Pediatrics, preferably in the hospital setting. On the UMFK campus, I am secretary for the Student Nurses Organization and I am also on Student Senate.
When I am not studying (rare for a nursing student) I enjoy spending time with friends, being active and outdoors, reading, watching movies, television, and sports, especially baseball. I am a San Francisco Giants baseball fan since birth until forever – together we're GIANT!!
If you ever need anything, please feel free to stop by my door anytime, for any reason. Whether it is for a quick hello, or a shoulder to cry on, I am available to listen.
Hi, my name is Troy Spinney and I am a third year student here at UMFK. I am majoring in Environmental Studies and Criminal Justice. Outside of college I am a firefighter/EMT for Bristol Fire & Rescue (Bristol, ME) and a member of the Lincoln County Search & Rescue Team. Other activities that I enjoy are hunting, fishing, and fly-tying (for fly-fishing).
My hometown is Bristol, ME, which is located in the Midcoast area of Maine. I am enjoying my time here in Fort Kent because it has a lot to offer for an outdoors enthusiast like myself. I am available for assistance and can be reached in the Lodge at ex. 8720 or by visiting room 210.
My name is Brian Holland. I am currently a second year student here at the University of Maine at Fort Kent majoring in Environmental studies and Forestry. I hope to complete a bachelors degree in the Environmental studies program and an associates in the forestry technologies program. I was born and raised in a small town called Litchfield in central Maine not far from Augusta. After graduating from Oak Hill High School I decided on UMFK for its small campus and local small town atmosphere. I also enjoy the local area and when not on duty you can find me hunting or fishing somewhere in the big woods. So far this RA position has been a great way for me to help pay for school and a great way to have a say in what goes on in the residents halls. I may come across as strict but I try to be fair, and most people tell me I'm a good guy once you get to know me so if you have any questions or just want to talk feel free to stop by and see me in room 224.
Hey! I'm Jer Harper and I'm a junior here at UMFK. I lived in Bath and Portland before coming here and it was quite a change in scenery for me but I grew to like Fort Kent very quickly! I study French education and minor in English. I'm a meber of the Men's soccer team and I love playing almost all sports. In my free time I like to go to the gym. I like to see myself as very personable, so if you ever need anything don't hesitate to come ask.
Hi, my name is Leah Brooks and I am a community mentor in the lodge. I am from Lisbon, Maine. This is my third year at UMFK and I am pursuing a degree in elementary education. I am involved in Student Senate, Dance Squad, S.T.E.P.S., Travel Club, and Spectrum. My goal in life is to stay in "the county" and find a job in an elementary school (preferably fifth grade). I enjoy jogging, walking, hiking, and biking during my free time. I believe every student should have a positive experience at UMFK and I am here to help ensure that! If you ever have any questions or just need someone to talk to let me know! I wish everyone to have a successful and prosperous school year!
