The following information are some things the IT Staff thinks you need to know about Labs on the UMFK Campus. You should also know that a On-Campus Account is needed to access and use all of the labs and tools you see below.
SSRPM:
Deep Freeze:
To provide UMFK students with the best possible computing experience, the UMFK lab computers have a product called Faronics DeepFreeze installed. This product keeps the computers in a state setup by the IT Office by erasing changes upon restart. Because of this, it is extremely important that you don't save your work on the computers hard drive, which includes My Documents and the Desktop.
USB Drives:
The UMFK lab computers all have USB ports available for use. You can plug a USB flash drive into one of these ports and save your work on it. USB drives are also not effected by DeepFreeze, which means if the computer is restarted your files will still be saved on the thumb drive.
H-Drive:
Every UMFK student is given space on a UMFK server to save files. We call this your H-Drive. The H-Drive is not effected by DeepFreeze, which means if the computer is restarted your files will still be saved. When a student logs into a UMFK lab computer, their H-Drive will show up under My Computer. The H-Drive, and all files within, can be accessed from any computer on-campus. A student's H-Drive can only be accessed by that student and the IT staff. Students can also access their H-Drive from home. You will need to login to the following website with your On-Campus Account. The website address is: https://hdrive.umfk.edu.
