The University of Maine at Fort Kent is a small public university offering quality baccalaureate and associate degree programs with a legacy of quality teaching based in the liberal arts and professional programs.

UMFK is where education meets the great outdoors. It is situated in the historic upper St. John River Valley, at the northern extent of the Appalachian Mountains and forests of New England. The area provides abundant resources for learning and research opportunities, along with the joys of outdoor recreation. The University is a strong social, cultural, and economic force for the area. It responds to global trends by preparing well-educated, independent thinkers to live in a diverse and global society.

UMFK is positioned as Maine's leading, small, public university thanks in large part to its talented and dedicated faculty. The University's faculty is committed to promoting discovery, the exploration of knowledge, life-long learning, and global citizenship to our students. This is done through effective one-to-one, high-impact teaching; service learning; internships; and, experiential learning.

The Academic Stewardship Fund will ensure that our committed faculty is able to provide the next generation with the necessary resources to continue to foster an appreciation for, and the stewardship of, northern Maine's pristine natural environment, and to offer a variety of curricula that emphasize the challenges of rural America.
